Bob McDorman, a private collector and the owner of Bob McDorman Chevrolet, is well-known for his amazing collection of Corvettes and other significant Chevys. For the third time, McDorman has put up his classic Corvette collection on a no-reserve auction through Mecum on Nov. 6 at his Canal Winchester dealership. Up for grabs will be 150 cars, including the world’s most complete Corvette collection, neon sign, memorabilia and vintage parts. Tom Christmann, marketing manager for Mecum Auctions, an auction firm in Marengo, said that it’s a truly stunning and unique collection. I’ve handled nothing but Chevrolet and religiously believe in Chevrolet. It will be hard for me to see my personal collection because I love the cars so much. There is nothing in the world that will give you the satisfaction of driving down the street in a beautiful car that you like.
Some of the auction highlights will be Semon “Bunkie” Knudsen’s 1963 Chevrolet Sting Ray, a 1938 Chevrolet Cabriolet and a specially built 1964 Sting Ray dubbed “Pink Pearl.” The auction lot features 12 “serial No. 1″ Corvettes.
